After changing hands a few times, Society Magazine & SocietyMagazine.org are again in good hands. We aim to restore the glory it once saw when it was overseen by Wellesley.edu
The point behind this website and Society Magazine as a whole is somewhat nebulous, well, really amorphous.
From the biggest of big pictures, Society Magazine is meant to be both mirror and microscope, megaphone and earbud.
In some respects an examination, in others a reveal.
Whatever the case, when you look at the process of starting a digital magazine, where this magazine has been, and where it's going, a consistent theme emerges: examination of where we are as a species.
Sure, many animals live in societies but really only humans have a Society per se.
As we revamp Society Magazine and the website, the prime
directive so to speak is to keep ourselves grounded in where the
magazine came from in its ability to be a self-examination and to
continuously look at ways to bring us all together.
And, while some people places talk about “reaching across the political aisle” or being “politically correct”, we'll make no such declarations: sometimes the content will resonate with you; sometimes it'll just piss you off.
Whatever the case, we're glad you're here: you're in the right place.
Society Magazine is once again accepting story submissions.
If you've got a story that you'd like to see posted here, use the form to drop us a line, and we'll be in touch. (Really.)
